Elizabeth Moore, 86, of Philadelphia, Mississippi passed on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from Neshoba County General Hospital in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 20, 2020 from Mt. Ary M.B. Church Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Visitation will be held held 12:15 P.M. - 12:45 P.M. on Monday, July 20, 2020 from Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia. Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements.
The journey for Elizabeth James Moore Lyons commenced Sunday, November 11, 1933 in the Stallo Community connecting Winston & Neshoba Counties. She was one of three children born to the union of the late Simon Wraggs James and wife, Mable. She along with her siblings, J.W. James ( wife, Marilyn) & Irma Jean ( Trussell) they received their early education in Winston & Kemper County Schools. Having been given religious instructions in their home early on Mother Elizabeth was a lifelong member of the Christian Family known as Mt. Ary Missionary Baptist Church.
Saturday, April 7th in the year of our Lordin 1951, Elizabeth married he "sweethart" Levi Moore, Sr. They had a fruitful and faith-filled union that produced six ( 6) devoted children: Betty, Earlean (Jay), Jason ( Bridgit), Levi, Jr. ( Richelle), Mavis & LaDetric. Levi, Sr. and Elizabeth were firm believers of loving, discipline and education they encouraged and assisted their offspring to follow their God-fearing and hard working examples to do and be the very best they could in every facet of life.
After the demise if her dear Levi Elizabeth was wooed and courted by Mr. Cleo Lyons. They became 'husband and wife" on November 16, 1999. They enjoyed a harmonious relationship accepting one another's families into their hearts individually & collectively. Cleo departed this life in April 2007.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth believed in the study of God's Word and the development of youth in the church. She served Mt. Ary in numerous capacities. Working tirelessly for over 40 years as Mission Society President; along with being a representative to the Mount Olive/Bethel Harmony District, State and National conventions.
On Thursday, July 16, 2020 ,before the break of day, Father God transitioned her to come home to rest. Her Parents, siblings, eldest daughter, Betty & granddaughter, Jedidah preceded her death. Although her immediate and far reaching extended ( biological & community) family members are already missing her there is a great joy in knowing that she is at peace. Her memory will forever be cherished by her remaining five (5) children, 2 'special children' Frankie Wayne Trussell and Delois Madison; beloved Moore/Lyons in law families; Marilyn, Thelma ( Arthur Wells), Houston ( Dr. Martha), Thurman ( Sylvia), Hubbard, Gertha ( Earl Galss), Nita ( Rev. Dr. James Nettleton), Patrick ( Ruth); her Lyons Children Willie Marvin, Linda Diane, Mavis, Richard ( Rose), Lavon, Ben, and Mike Allen along with 25 grandchildren ( 15 biological); 22 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren and two yet unborn angels, on their way. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
