Mary Jo Jones, 64 of Washington, DC., formerly of Louisville, MS., passed on June 16, 2024 at her home. Mary Jo was born in Memphis, TN on January 16, 1960, to Phalon Rodger Jones and Donnie Mae Jones. She spent her early years in Louisville, MS.  Mary Jo received Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1975 at Wesley United Methodist Church under Rev. W. B. Pennington. In 1978, she graduated from Louisville High School, Louisville, MS. Immediately after graduation, Mary Jo was off to Army Basic Training at Fort McClellan, AL.

Graveside services will be Wednesday July 3, 2024 at  11 a.m., from Louisville Memorial Cemetery, Louisville, MS. 

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Phalon Rodgers Jones and Donnie Mae Jones and her older brother Phalon Rodgers Jones, Jr. who was a saxophonist for Otis Redding and died with him in a tragic plane crash.

She is survived by her daughter, Emma Fofanah, of Sierra Leone, Africa; sister, Patricia Jones-Coleman, Louisville, MS; brother, Col (Retired) Anthony Brown (Karpinos) of Huntsville, AL; granddaughter, Sierra Fofanah of London, England; nephew, Phalon D. Jones, of Oakdale, LA; nieces, Kirsten Brown, Karimah Brown and Kimberly Brown all of Huntsville, AL. and other beloved Family and friends.
