Steven D. Johnson of Dekalb, MS, beloved father, son, brother and friend passed away on May 11, 2024, in Houston, TX at the age of 39. He was born December 27, 1984 in Meridian, MS to parents Earnest Johnson and Minnie (James) Benoman, He is survived by his two sons, Steven Deon Johnson, Jr. and Germon Johnson of Meridian, MS; his brother, Earnest (Felisha) Johnson of Dekalb, MS, his sister, Joyce (Vance) Clark of Dekalb, MS; two step daughters, Andrea Holmes and Lakeya Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Steven accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. In his younger years he attended Macedonia M.B. Church of Dekalb, MS and was a member of the choir and helped with other various duties.
He attended Kemper County High School in Dekalb, MS where he received his diploma. He also attended East MS Community College Workforce Program and received his 8 weeks completion in Basic Welding.
Steven had a personality that would light up a room. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his infectious laugh, and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He always tried to give a hand to anyone that he'd meet. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Steven enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His presence illuminated every room he entered, and his warm smile brought comfort to all who knew him. He had a nurturing spirit.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 25, 2024 from Beck Funeral Home Chapel of Dekalb. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Dekalb, Mississippi. Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 24, 2024 from Beck Funeral Home Dekalb. Beck Funeral Home Dekalb is in charge of all arrangements.
