Verna Mae Hunter Cowan, 84, of Union, Mississippi passed on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 15, 2025, from Union Grove M.B. Church in Union, Mississippi.  Visitation will be held.  4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2025, from Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia. Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements.

She leaves to treasure her sweet memories' two sons, Bobby (Sharon) Hunter of Moss Point, MS; Steven (Rosemary) Hunter of Pascagoula, MS; one bonus daughter, Burnistine Knotts; 9 grandchildren: Paidra, Shajuan, Shajuanda, Damian, David, Jamie Shmaiah, Randolph, and Laseva; two bonus grandchildren Tamesha and LaDashia and 23 great grandchildren; two siblings, Oscar Lee (Ruby) Nash, Bobbie Jean (Raven) McBeath; three special sisters-in-law Maude Nash Evans, Patricia Davis, and Alma Beverly; special cousins who were like siblings, Bessie Vivans and Excell (Sandra) Brazzil: a devoted niece and caregiver Lola (Theodore) Langham; extended family Sandra Harmon of Union, MS; Meredith Wright of Baton Rouge, LA, Duke and Betty Sutherland of Biloxi, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that loved her unconditionally.
